The Isle of Man Home of Rest for Old Horses is situated at Richmond Hill on the Douglas to Castletown Road a few miles South of Douglas. It can be easily reached by using Public Transport eg the buses to Port Erin/Port St Mary etc. There is a large car park for visitors and a nice shop where you can buy souvenirs or sponsor the horses and donkeys. Next to the shop is a homely little cafe which we would highly recommend. In one of the stables is a small display showing the history of the home and photographs etc of past residents. In the shop you can buy bags of horse nuts to feed the horses.

The home is only open during the summer months, but if you have the chance to visit there, it is in our opinion one of the most special places to spend an afternoon on the island.
