The Attempt to buy Stonebridge Road.

The fans of Ebbsfleet United and the members of myfootballclub are attempting to buy Stonebridge Road the home of Ebbsfleet United. The following people have bought into this scheme. There is a period of 2 months to attempt to raise the £600,000 needed, and to date £263,000 has been raised. You can find out more about the story so far by

A View in favour of buying the ground through MYFG Ltd by Keith H.

There is a lot of emotion in the decision to buy property, and to buy a football ground makes buying a semi detached seem like child's play. I have read comments on the forums about buying the spot where a fan stands and the same for his son. Others about people overseas owning a bit of England. When this saga started, the aim was to make the clubs tenure more secure. This has been achieved now whatever choice is finally made. The large sum of money raised so far I feel could be increased a lot by a strong campaign. I have read arguments that councils colours change and so do their priorities. If MyFG own the ground and its shareholders are a large base, then it is up to fans as to what happens to the ground. Could a council one day sell the ground unless its tied down in the paperwork ?  MyFG Ltd would only be able to sell if EUFC agreed. Some investors so far have been motivated by investment returns, whilst others are doing it just for the benefit of the club.

The exact articles or rules of MyFG Ltd are still to be worked out by its shareholders as they are currently just an off the shelf version. I would hope that shareholders would, given the option, waive their annual 5% return if they wish, maybe opt that it either stays within MyFG Ltd or goes to the club ? Another option could be to offer shares in lieu of annual returns, so maybe a £50 cash payment is replaced by a new share for the shareholder ? , one for others too work out if its feasible. I just like the idea of owning instead being a tenant. When I hear of an unemployed regular local fan wanting to buy a share in makes me feel humble.

In 2007-08, MyFC bought a majority share in the club, in 2009 if many MyFC members and non members alike could buy the ground, I feel it sends out a message that many of the MyFC members are in this for the very long run. Its a massive decision either way, and when you realise that over 1,750 posts have been made on the subject, members are giving the decision the scrutiny that it deserves. A member said " It's just that I know I'll be really disappointed if we end up as a council tenant when we had the chance to own our the place. It's like giving someone the chance of winning the lottery outright, or sharing the jackpot with another winner. You'd be happy to share the jackpot, but deep inside you'd be thinking you could have won the whole lot." Whichever way we go, I am sure we will all get behind it.

We are trying to buy Stonebridge Road.
